The company was formerly known as Companhia Paranaense de Energia Elétrica and changed its name to Companhia Paranaense de Energia - COPEL in October 1979. Companhia Paranaense de Energia - COPEL was founded in 1954 and is headquartered in Curitiba, Brazil.
